The Harvard Club of Hong Kong is the local HAA chapter in Hong Kong. We consist of and welcome alumni from all of Harvard's schools. Harvard College maintains no relationships with any admissions consultants or agencies in Greater China or elsewhere. All Harvard College interviewers in Greater China are graduates of the College, and offer support to the admission office on a volunteer basis. Details regading application process, membership benefits, and membership tiers for those who wish to join and be a member of the Harvard Club of Hong Kong. Terms & Conditions of Membership Types and Membership Plans: Per Club Bylaws Articles 8 and 9, Member and Associate eligibility is as follows: "8. An individual of any nationality is eligible to be a Member if he/she (a) has received a degree awarded by Harvard University; (b) has completed one semester at Harvard University as a student, with the exception that no current student in any department of Harvard University shall be eligible unless they have already received a degree from Harvard University; (c) has received a certificate of completion from an official program of Harvard University that is currently defined by Harvard University as qualifying the program participant as an alumnus or alumna for purposes of inclusion in the Harvard Alumni Directory; or (d) has received an honorary degree from Harvard University. There are five sub-categories of Members, namely Recent Graduates [New Alum] (graduated within the last three years), Annual , Family , Lifetime and Patron , with different subscription fee levels to be determined by the Board from time to time. Only Members shall have a right to vote on matters described in these bylaws. 9. An individual is eligible to be an Associate if he/she is not qualified as a Member in accordance with Article 8 above if such individual meets any of the criteria in this Article 9. Associates consist of the following categories, and other categories which the Board may decide from time to time. The Board may, at its discretion, specify or define eligibility from time to time. Associates shall not have a right to vote at any General Meeting of the Company and shall not be eligible to become Directors: (a) Parent(s) : An individual is eligible to become an Associate if he/she is a parent of: (i) a Member or an individual who is eligible to become a Member; or (ii) a current student who will be eligible to become a Member upon graduation (such eligibility continues after the graduation of the student, provided the parents are active members of the Company at the time of graduation and continue to be so) (b) Scholar : An individual is eligible to become an Associate if he/she is or has been a faculty member, an instructor, a postdoctoral fellow, a visiting fellow or a visiting scholar at Harvard University, or an intern and/or resident fellow of a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard University. (c) Student : An individual is eligible to become an Associate if he/she is a current student at Harvard University and will be qualified to apply as a Member upon graduation. Upon graduation, the Associate status would cease and the individual would need to submit a new application to join the Company as a Member. (d) Non-HAA alumni certificate holder : An individual is eligible to become an Associate if he/she has received a certificate of completion from an official program from Harvard University but has not or is ineligible to receive alumni status with the Harvard Alumni Association." *NOTE 1 : Annual plans will be auto-renewed on the date of initial sign up. Become a Member Joining a Harvard alumni club can be one of the most valuable and rewarding ways in which one can stay connected to Harvard . . . The Harvard Club of Hong Kong is a non-profit organization that depends on the continued support of its members in the form of dues to finance its day-to-day operations, activities and events. The Club has more than 2400 Harvard alumni on its mailing list with whom it communicates on a regular basis. HCHK Members receive invitations to Club events and activities. Regular events include mixers, dinners, tours of local exhibits and unique venues, and hikes. Annual events include Global Networking Night, New Admits Meet & Greet, the Ivy Ball, Welcome to Your City, a holiday dinner, and our Annual General Meeting. Special events include speakers from Harvard (Professors and Deans), thought leaders, as well as distinguished Harvard alumni. The Club often organizes events with organizations like the American Chamber of Commerce, The Asia Society, Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and other university alumni organizations in Hong Kong. Many events are family-friendly. We have multiple membership tiers catering to different needs. This second email will also contain a link whereby you can add and update other personal information (e.g., address, phone number, etc). We will watch Anthony’s Ilo ilo, which was awarded the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by 40 awards internationally including 4 Golden Horse Awards. Set in Singapore in 1997, Ilo Ilo chronicles the relationship between a family of three and their newly arrived Filipino maid, Teresa. The family's already strained relationship is threatened as they adapt to the presence of this stranger. Still, Teresa and Jia Le, the young and troublesome boy she cares for, soon form a bond, and Teresa becomes an unspoken part of the family.
